Pwakkenbak Mountain Bike Trails
Pwakkenbak/Mount Barker Hill is a local landmark and attraction, and registered Aboriginal Heritage Site. Uninterrupted, spectacular views of the Stirling Range, Porongurup Range and the south coast await visitors at its summit.
The Pwakkenbak Mountain Bike Trails project was delivered in partnership with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, and in consultation with Noongar Elders and the Mount Barker Aboriginal Progress Association.
Award-winning WA trail development firm Three Chillies Design designed and constructed 4.8-kilometres of single-track cross country and downhill mountain bike trails, with community engagement with local mountain bike clubs and the wider community.
The trails complement the universal-access pedestrian path, boardwalk and sunset/astronomy viewing platform installed by the Shire in 2021, which connects to the Rotary Club of Mount Barker Lookout.

Pwakkenbak Trails Open Day
On 28 March 2025, the Shire hosted a Pwakkenbak Trails Open Day. The event brought together riders of all ages and abilities for a fun-filled, active day in the great outdoors. It featured skills workshops, guided trail rides, free refreshments and a family-friendly, community atmosphere.
Thanks to WestCycle, CycleSense, Mount Barker Mountain Bike Club, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, Lotterywest and everyone who attended and supported the event.
