Plantagenet kids and parents met with skatepark design and construction company Skate Sculpture on 21 June to have their say on the Wilson Park Masterplan.

Skatepark workshops were also held at Kendenup Primary School and Mount Barker Community College.

Popular requests included a half pipe, grassed areas and lots of colour.

More than 90 people completed feedback forms and 60 concept designs were submitted through the consultation.

Upgrades to the park are being carried out in two stages. Stage one incorporates the skatepark as well as a pump track, associated furniture and landscaping, while stage two includes all other recreation programs, play zones and associated landscaping.

Other elements of the redevelopment include a flying fox, pump track, full basketball court and separate toddler and kids’ playgrounds.

Green spaces will also be expanded, allowing use for markets and food trucks, and amenities and footpaths will be updated.

Consultants for the pump track will hold a community consultation workshop in August.

It’s all part of a $6.5m redevelopment of Wilson Park. The Wilson Park Recreational Masterplan was adopted by Council at its 27 February meeting.
