Sounness Park Oval is getting a lighting upgrade thanks to funding from West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) and WA Government’s Club Night Lights Program (CNLP).
Current floodlights at the Oval will be replaced with a 200 lux LED lighting system.
Benefits of LED lighting include reduced running costs, a longer lifespan of lights and less maintenance.
This will also lead to reduced upkeep costs and an increased level of sustainability.
The upgrade was sought after a number of existing globes reached the end of their serviceable life and were due for replacement.
The next steps are to seek revised costings for the project and then schedule a time when replacing the lights will not impact sporting clubs use of the Oval.
The Shire received $26,423 from WA Football Commission (WAFC) for the upgrade, with a grant awarded through the 2024 WA Football Facilities Fund – Small Grants Round (2024 WAFFF).
Up to $80,000 will come from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries’ Club Night Lights Program (CNLP).
