Heart-stopping, jaw-dropping Zap Circus wows Mount Barker

The young and young-at-heart were amazed and entertained last week when Zap Circus visited Mount Barker.

Husband and wife team Tarrabelle and Rusty held a workshop with Year 3 Mount Barker Community College students on 10 April, teaching them how to use their core strength to build up to circus tricks and stunts.

They also performed a sold-out community show at the Plantagenet District Hall on 12 April.

After supporting the Mount Barker Amateur Swimming Club to raise funds for their 2025/2026 Country Pennants event in Karratha with a pre-event sausage sizzle, the full house took their seats.

The crowd watched on in awe as Zap Circus performed hula hooping, contortion, acrobatics, strength routines, comedy, fire-twirling and even inserting a three-inch nail up a nostril using a hammer!

There was plenty of audience engagement and involvement, much to the discomfort of the three spectators who were enticed onstage to participate in tricks.

Attendees had the chance to meet Tarrabelle and Rusty after their performance, who recently returned to Australia after performing in Fiji.

The tour was funded by the Shire of Plantagenet, Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.
