The Porongurup Hall will soon be extended to accommodate more community activities.

Dating back to 1913, the hall is the hub of the Porongurup community. It is used regularly by Porongurup Craft Group and hosts annual events including Art in the Porongurup, Art Bazaar, Porongurup Art Group exhibition, community Snow Ball and Christmas party, workshops, and other social functions.

Shire President Len Handasyde said the Shire was pleased to secure a $150,000 Lotterywest grant.

“This will go towards building costs and the fit-out of the hall,” Cr Handasyde said.

“The extension works include new ablution facilities, a covered entrance area and a meeting space.”

“The Shire Council upgraded the septic system at the Hall in the 2024-2025 annual budget and has some funding set aside for the next stage of the development.  We’ll be looking to top this up in the 2025-2026 budget to complete the extension works, which will give this important meeting place a new lease on life for years to come.”
