Plantagenet residents are advised that rabbit control will begin in the area during spring.
The Shire has secured vials of calicivirus RHDV-K5, which will be applied to carrot baits and released across various locations within the Shire of Plantagenet.
Calicivirus is specific to the European rabbit and does not pose a risk to humans, other domestic animals or native wildlife. More information on the virus can be found here.
Owners of pet rabbits are advised to check with their vet to make sure their rabbit’s vaccinations are up-to-date.
