Cr Handasyde congratulated the community on their achievement.
“It’s terrific to see these initiatives come to fruition,” Cr Handasyde said.
“I have no doubt it will be well used by the community in the years ahead and there are more projects to come in the next few years, as we work together to deliver these great outcomes.”
Cr Handasyde thanked the Narrikup Sports and Community Group for contributing $10,000 towards the total project cost of close to $50,000.
Plantagenet Sheds and Steel constructed the shelter earlier this year.
It was a part of the community engagement process where the Narrikup community prioritised a shelter to fit over the barbecue area to protect it and to shade children waiting for the school bus. It was decided to proceed and work towards seeing this project built.
The project forms part of ongoing improvements to enhance the areas surrounding the Narrikup Town Hall.
