SUMMER HOLIDAY FUN IN THE SUN

Local families made the most of our summer school holiday program, with plenty of activities on offer to keep children entertained.

The Mount Barker Public Library - WA offered art and craft activities, including an adventure-packed picnic for soft toys, making slow motion videos of colourful dominoes, creating marvelous monsters, and putting LEGO skills to the test.
Library and Information Services Coordinator Irene Marshall said it was fantastic to see families and children engage with great creativity and imagination.

The Mount Barker Rec.Centre WA catered for the more energetic crowd, offering a Christmas Party Fun Day, with a special visit from Mr and Mrs Claus. More than 70 kids enjoyed themselves at the Family Fun Day playing on bouncy castles, gymnastic mats, swinging ropes and participating in a range of challenges and activities with prizes galore.

The Mount Barker Memorial Swimming Pool was very busy during a sweltering summer. A Watch Around Water Party had a special guest – Walter the Watch Dog – who promoted water safety and supervision, an important message from Royal Life Saving WA. The Torpedo Topple and Exmouth Racer inflatables have been popular as always, with kids lining up to challenge themselves to make it to the end without toppling. Don't miss out on the action with the first pool party of 2025 on 14 February!

For a cool change, bus trips to Albany Ten Pin Bowling and the cinema to escape the heat got a big thumbs up from all involved.

Skate, scooter and BMX workshops scheduled for 24 January in Kendenup and Mount Barker were postponed until late March due to extreme heat. Keep an eye out for updates on our website and Facebook page to come and have a wheely good time!
