The O’Neill Road Waste Management Facility capacity will be increasing in the future, after a works application was approved by the Council.
This enables the Shire to extend the landfill facility to the south and west of the current landfill site.
The existing landfill site is reaching capacity, and with the Shire’s population continuing to grow annually, additional landfill is required to cater to future requirements.
Detailed design will now be undertaken, with construction of a new landfill cell to commence during the 2025/26 financial year.
The Council also approved the purchase of two new site offices for the tip.
A 3-metre by 3-metre modular unit will replace the caravan near the general waste shed. A 6-metre by 3-metre modular unit will be installed next to the main shed at the tip entrance to function as a new lunchroom and site office.
