Reserve Accounts – Change in Purpose

In accordance with section 6.11 (2) of the Local Government Act 1995, where a Local Government resolves to change the purpose of a reserve account or use the money in a reserve account for another purpose, it must give one month’s local public notice of the proposed change of purpose or proposed use.

The Shire of Plantagenet proposes to change the name and purpose of the following reserve accounts:

  • Close the ‘Outstanding land resumptions’ reserve and transfer funds to the ‘Waste Management – Post Closure’ reserve;
  • Close the ‘Building Renewal’ reserve and transfer funds to:
    • Porongurup Hall - $150,000;
    • Plantagenet District Hall - $50,000;
    • Frost Park - $50,000;
    • Sounness Park - $50,000;
    • Dr Christopher Bourke Medical Centre - $50,000;
    • Shire Depot - $100,000;
    • Shire Administration Office - $200,000;
    • Community resource centre building - $200,000; and
    • Mount Barker swimming pool revitalisation – balance of funds (approx. $26,000).
  • Close the ‘Major Projects’ reserve account and transfer funds to:
    • Mount Barker swimming pool revitalisation - $200,000;
    • Housing & Land - $100,000;
    • Wilson Park - $100,000; and
    • Paths and trails – balance of funds (approx. $37,000)
  • Close the ‘Community Grants’ reserve account and transfer funds to:
    • Kendenup Hall - $25,000;
    • Porongurup Hall - $50,000;
    • Narrikup Hall - $25,000; and
    • Museum complex – balance of funds (approx. $12,000);
  • Change the name of the ‘Community resource centre building’ reserve account to the ‘Mount Barker Community Centre Building’ reserve account and the purpose be amended to ‘For the renewal, refurbishment and improvements to the Mount Barker Community Centre’.

The objects of, and reasons for the change are to more specifically define the use of the reserve account funds.
